The property is really beautiful. I think the majority of 5 star reviews is because of the physical and aesthetic of the space. I went during sunset for the night spa session from 6-9pm. Watching the sunset there was surreal. I would definitely return still, but I'll explain the 3 to 4 star rating. I found the service a little odd. It's a no device facility but the three folks working in the lobby were distracted on their phones when I went to ask where the shower was and didn't really seem inclined to clarify what they meant by "it's over there", until they realized I said they're all full and was asking about a full shower facility. This is a sauna/cold plunge facility with very few shower facilities, only one private one and 2 open air and shared with the people going through their contrast therapy cycles. I did not find the service friendly or hospitable the same way I've experienced in other parts of Bali. Next, I agree with other reviews that there was little instructions and

The Istana was the perfect escape for our family. The peaceful atmosphere, stunning ocean views, and wellness-focused amenities made it easy to unwind. The kids loved exploring the open spaces, while we enjoyed the sauna and meditation areas. A truly special place to reconnect and recharge together.

One of the most beautiful meditation spots in Bali for yoga and recovery/saunas. The food is genuinely great, too — and the sound of the waves really adds an extra dimension. As a bonus patience/meditation test, be ready for some… creative security protocols — you may be asked (3–4 times, even if you didn’t bring one) to leave your phone, or your scooter keys, or cash at the entrance. I managed to “lose” mine a couple times (clearly I need to meditate more 🫠). First-arrival vibes as a guest can feel a bit surprising and intense if you don’t know all the “rules,” but once you’re in, it’s a really special place. Worth it for the space itself.

Attended a Let it Flow soundbath session on Monday 22 June. We surrendered our phones and had our bags checked prior to entering. Then we saw another person on their phone laying on a lounge. Obviously not everyone gets their handbag searched like we did. There was also a lot of noise coming from the food/bar area customers and others in the pool whilst we were doing our Soundbath, which ruined the ambience of our Soundbath. Facilities were fantastic and a stunning location.
