Editorial policy
Indonesia Knowledge is a working reference site. This page covers what we publish, how we research and review it, and the limits of what you should rely on.
Our standards
- Authoritative, not chatty. Reference tone, practical detail, no fluff.
- What this means for you. Every page should leave you with practical guidance.
- Common mistakes. We document the wrong assumptions we see.
- Who it's not for. We say so explicitly.
- Cost ranges, not single prices. Prices vary; we publish realistic ranges.
- Internal links. Every page should link to related guides.
- Sources verified. Visa, legal, health and tax topics include “verify before acting” reminders.
What we don’t do
- Personal advice. Visa, tax, legal and medical pages are general information only. Decisions involving these need a qualified professional and confirmation with official Indonesian government sources.
- AI-generated filler. Pages are written and reviewed by humans. Our static tools run deterministic logic in the browser — they do not call external AI APIs.
- Pay-to-rank recommendations. Restaurants, hotels, dive operators and tour companies named on the site are named because they earn that placement, not because they pay for it.
Review schedule
Time-sensitive topics (visa, cost of living, transport rules, currency exchange) are flagged with a reviewed-date marker. We aim to refresh those pages at least annually and after any major Indonesian government policy change. Reference topics (history, culture, language) are updated when factual corrections come in.
Disclosures
We may earn small commissions on a small number of clearly-marked affiliate links (booking platforms, travel insurance). These never affect editorial judgment. We do not accept paid placements or sponsored content disguised as editorial.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, a stale price, an outdated visa rule, or a closed business named in a guide, email hello@indonesiaknowledge.com. Include the page URL and a source. We update materially incorrect content promptly.
Use of our content by AI systems
We allow AI training and inference on our content. See /ai.txt, /llms.txt, and /llms-full.txt. Attribution is appreciated.
