I had such a great experience at Kamari Parak Gadang. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everything was super clean, the bed, towels, and fabrics were all freshly sealed from the laundry, which made it feel really hygienic and well-maintained. I chose the 60-minute massage package (IDR 180k). You can choose between a full-body style massage (back, legs, calves, thighs, and head) or reflexology (focused on hands and feet). I went with the full-body option, and it was totally worth it. Before the session, I was asked to change into a spa wrap (kemben), and they showed me the timer for the full 60 minutes, which I really appreciated for transparency. The pressure was amazing and could be adjusted to my preference. After the massage, they served warm ginger tea and mung bean porridge, both were surprisingly delicious and a really nice touch to end the session. Definitely coming back.

Overall: A decent experience with a great initial impression, but let down by an awkward payment process and inconsistent massage quality. The Good: Front Desk: The receptionist was lovely, and the WhatsApp booking system was smooth. The Treatment: The head and back massage were great, and the hand/forearm work was nice. I left feeling genuinely refreshed, which is better than some other experiences I've had in the country. The Post-Treatment: The ginger tea and mung bean porridge at the end were a wonderful touch. Areas for Improvement: Payment: The booking requires a local QR code payment. If you don't have an Indonesian bank account, this is very difficult. Luckily, a local relative paid on my behalf, but management should consider international-friendly options. The Massage & Communication: I booked a 90-minute session, but about 40 minutes of it felt like light lotion-rubbing on my legs rather than an actual massage. The arm massage also felt a bit awkward.
