I visited the consular section of the embassy today to apply for the renewal of my 5-year-old son’s passport, with an appointment booked a week in advance. I had read some not-so-positive reviews on Google Maps, but today, my son and I experienced exceptionally good service from the consular staff. Security was a bit tight, which is understandable for safety reasons, and even though only one staff member attended to us, there was no queue. In short, the service was excellent. I hope all embassies in Jakarta can maintain this level of service consistently. Many thanks to the consular staff who assisted us today.

Australian Embassy Jakarta – An Embarrassing Failure of Service My recent experience with the Australian Embassy in Jakarta was nothing short of appalling. Let’s start with the cost. Nearly $400 AUD for a passport, widely recognised as one of the most expensive in the world — and then an additional $200 “processing fee” on top of that. Processing fee for what, exactly? There is no justification, no transparency, and no visible service level that remotely explains why Australians abroad are being charged over $600 AUD for what should be a straightforward administrative renewal. For that price, one would expect efficiency, professionalism, and at the very least competent organisation. Instead, I was forced to wait over two weeks just to secure an appointment. Two weeks for basic consular paperwork. Yet when I arrived, the embassy was virtually empty. No queue. No backlog. No visible reason for such an excessive delay. The appointment system appears artificially restrictive and completely

Congratulations on turning genuine travelers with your terrible and unfair visa review process. I don’t understand why genuine visitors with a good travel history and sufficient savings are being rejected The tourist visa evaluation process seriously needs to be reviewed for fairness and clarity. This feels like nothing more than a money grab. Completely unfair Applying here was a total waste of time and money, and I have no interest in ever visiting Australia after this experience 👎🏿

Very disappointing and unfair tourist visa process. My first application was rejected because they said I had “limited travel history,” even though I had already visited several countries. So I followed their feedback, traveled to 3 more countries, and even got 2 multiple-entry visas. When I applied again, they rejected me for a completely different reason , they said I have “no stable income.” This makes no sense because I already provided full business documents showing I am the owner/director, along with a cover letter explaining my finances. It feels inconsistent and unfair, like they just look for reasons to reject. As a female solo traveler, I also feel discriminated against. Honestly, don’t waste your money, better choose other countries.
