    I strongly recommend applying in Jakarta if your passport was issued there or if you are domiciled in the city. I applied from Surabaya simultaneously with a friend who submitted via the Jakarta center. The difference was stark: In Jakarta, document review was completed within one day without any premium service. In contrast, my documents in Surabaya showed no progress for several days, even though I had opted for VIP. When I contacted the call center, the response was unhelpful. The staff was dismissive, did not allow me to properly explain my concerns, and offered no solutions—only adding to the frustration. The Surabaya office seems to have inconsistent internal policies. For instance, they require payment prior to a VIP request—a procedure not documented on the official website. Applicants must also send an email to request VIP processing, and based on shared experiences online, many of these requests are rejected regardless.     I think the process here was really quick. I submitted my online application, and it got reviewed the next day. Even the revision process didn't take long. I believe everything was done smoothly! Although there were quite a few people in line when I went, the staff worked efficiently so the wait wasn't too bad. Overall, I think this was one of the fastest experiences I've had when it comes to getting a China visa. Definitely appreciated how organized and quick the whole thing was. Thank you.

    Terrible experience. The staff are unprofessional, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful. I had to wait an absurd amount of time just to get an access card, and after coming back twice, my documents was rejected over a ridiculous requirement that was never clearly stated. The officers clearly struggle to understand documents in English and seem more interested in making things difficult than actually assisting applicants. If you're applying here, prepare for frustration and zero professionalism. I suggest you come to the Jakarta office instead of wasting your energy here.
