Two months ago, I started from zero. Today, I can dive to 31 meters, and it still feels surreal. What made this journey so special is the environment at FreeDive Gili. From day one, it felt incredibly welcoming, supportive, and full of positive energy. It’s the kind of place where you feel safe to grow, to challenge yourself, and to trust the process, no matter your starting point. Freediving itself taught me to slow down, let go of overthinking, and trust my body. But it was the instructors and the whole community here who made those lessons truly click. Their patience, encouragement, and genuine care made all the difference. And it’s not just the diving, the whole space adds to it. Slow mornings with coffee and journaling at Banyan Tree, the peaceful yoga shala, and even the cats wandering around, making everything feel a little softer and happier. It all became part of the experience I didn’t want to leave. Leaving was honestly the hardest part. This place, these people, and thi

Best freediving school in the world!! I learned to freedive here in 2016 and returned in 2022 to stay for a few months and do the one month Master Program. The coaches Mike and Veronika are truly an incredible wealth of knowledge. They were both just so generous with their time and you could tell they really truly care about their students. The water was beautiful with amazing visibility (like 30m +) and overall I just loved the vibe of the island, lots of good food and the community was amazing. I did some volunteering with the turtle research group so we saw lots of baby turtles hatching which was so special!

I took my Level 1 freediving course with Josh and I absolutely loved it! It was my first time ever freediving and had no idea we would achieve these results in just two days. The instructors are very knowledgeable, taking the time to ensure we fully understood the theory. The facilities are good, conveniently located on the main road, with their 25m training pool right next to the beach, where the boat is also ready to take you out. The team was super flexible in working with us on the schedule and communication before the course was smooth and clear. I appreciated the on-point feedback and video analysis which helped me understanding exactly what to work on and improve. Overall, I had an amazing experience and will definitely be back for more!

Freediving isnt for everyone. It's a highly technical and specialized endeavour. Even though I decided its not really my thing, I can say the instruction was highly professional and uncompromising on safety. I did level 1, and will take home some great knowledge and skills that can cross over to skin diving and spearfishing. While excellent in training and coursewirk, the staff IS a bit aloof and pretentious about their sport... But whatever, I had fun even staring at a rope!! Lol. Also accomodations were superb, clean, piping hot water, beautiful room and grounds. But their wifi sucks...
