  I had the pleasure of staying at Lutwala for 1.5 weeks during the beginning of June 2026. First & foremost, the staff were INCREDIBLE! I’ve never experienced nicer, kinder staff who always greeted all with a sincere smile & eager to help. They were not seeking a tip, the culture & the people are very “all should be happy” minded, this & the sincerity of caring really shined through at Lutwala. My stay was as an advanced scuba diver wanting to experience the beauty of the region. The dive staff were very good at evaluating each dive guest, making accommodations where needed, & took us to the most BRILLIANT dive sites I believe I will ever have the opportunity to see. The boat crew were hard working, made the diving experience as comfortable as possible up top, & gave additional help to those who needed it. The dive masters then masterfully guided us through some of the world’s greatest dive sites honoring what we each sought out to see. The accommodations reflected the very affordable

  Avoid this place at all costs. This hotel is a complete scam and one of the worst accommodations I have ever experienced. The hotel is extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The room was almost uninhabitable. What was advertised as a double bed was actually two separate beds pushed together with a metal structure in the middle, making it uncomfortable to sleep. The mattresses were in terrible condition, and the springs could be felt through them, causing back pain after just one night. The bed sheets were dirty, stained, and had a strong unpleasant smell. The humidity inside the room was unbearable, making the entire stay uncomfortable. The bathroom was disgusting, with holes and damaged areas everywhere, and the water drainage system was literally located next to the room entrance. To make matters worse, the water was salty, as if it was being pumped directly from the sea. The biggest disappointment, however, was the management.   Lutwala was such a great find on Gili T! Huge thanks to Aron at the reception—he is an absolute vibe, super friendly, and made us feel so welcome from the very first second. As he said “Welcome to Lutwala! Welcome home!” The rooms are incredibly spacious, and having a perfectly working fan was such a pleasant and refreshing surprise. Such a cool place with great energy!

  Globally it was a nice stay with few comments I would like to mention:1. It will be nice to put more bottles of water in the room for the guests.2. Refilling the gallon of water more often will be a plus especially since there is not enough water in the rooms.3. The breakfast buffet should be checked in order to be refill faster if the food is over for the new guest coming to eat.
