State of the art diving plus wonderful stay. That was our second stay at Bastianos: a year ago we were at Bangka - truly amazing, this year we decided to visit Bunaken - wow, even better :) 2 adults + our 10 years old son making junior open water diver certification. Much thanks to Paulus - great dive instructor. Son made first dives at the pool, then open water diver. We were picked up from Manado airport, then a 20 minutes drive to coastline and then a 30 minutes boat trip to the resort. We stayed at Superior Beachfront Room - we recommend it, what a wonderful view at the sea! Early moring coffee, reading a book with a sea view every day. At night you can realx, forget about everyday stress and fall asleep with a wonderful sound of waves on the beach. Our room was very comfortable, air conditioning working great. What is very important: beds were very comfortable, nice pillows. Toilet large enough. All nice clean. Have in mind that this resort is not the newest one, but well maintain

We stayed here for 5 nights, we stayed in the superior oceanfront room it was large and bright. We did look at the deluxe room but it seemed a lot smaller and darker. This was our 3rd Bastianos resort on this trip having stayed at Lembeh and Bangka before here.|Out of all 3 this resort was not as nice, the staff were fantastic but this resort needs more money invested on it. The restaurant was the most depressing place to sit and eat, it was dark and gloomy, the breeze (when there was one ) didn't blow through and the fans that they were using had definitely seen better days.|The swimming pool when we arrived was covered in flys and dead flowers, the pump wasn't working and so the water level was too low to be an infinity pool, in fact the manager closed the pool the next day. I'm hopeful that it is now working but unsure. The sun beds need re varnishing and the pads need replacing or at least need to be cleaned daily.|There is a nice walk into the village and back, possibly about 10

I had a mixed experience staying and diving at Bastianos Bunaken. The positives: The staff and manager were friendly and helpful, the dive crew skilled and professional, and my room clean and comfortable with a quiet AC that kept me cool. They offer nitrox, which was also a plus. The food was good but mostly western. The location is wonderfully quiet, no loudspeaker prayers or over-amplified music, a bit of a rarity traveling around Indonesia. I heard only the waves. The negatives: I was asked to pay for my package in advance, but when circumstances shortened my trip by a day management in Manado only refunded my last two dives, keeping the money paid for my last night. Nothing was ever said about my stay being nonrefundable, so it was an unpleasant surprise. Perhaps I was naive, but in the future and a dive to future guests: estimate a shorter stay and/or not pay in full. With regards to the reefs, they are showing signs of ill-health but are nearby and still very pretty, especially t

Once again a seamless transfer from Bangka to Bunaken with two dives on the way - that’s the ultimate way to make a transfer! Upon arrival at Bunaken we were given a briefing of the resort, a welcome drink, paperwork and then shown to our room. We had chosen one of the newer rooms which was lovely and bright and overlooked the beach.||Diving was generally 2-1 ratio so lots of time to set up for photos. The resort was about 50% full while we were there but enough boats to cater to everyone without feeling cramped on the boat. All staff were excellent and our dive gear was taken care of every day. Food was buffet style and very tasty.||The only downside was how much garbage there was. Bastianos cleaned the beach every day but what really opened our eyes was our transfer to Manado, on our way home, and the amount of garbage floating on the surface and underneath. Most divers that have been diving Indonesia on a regular basis are quite well aware of this but it really is a shame to see
