  😊: Where to begin? The location is awesome with incredible snorkelling on the doorstep and stunning scenery. All dive sites we visited were very close and the resort itself is set on a beautiful hillside. Willeke and her team were fantastic. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The dive crew were very knowledgable (thanks Jimmy and Aldo) they made sure we were safe and comfortable, even after a long break from diving. The kitchen team were also amazing. As vegetarians, you never expect such delicious meals as were prepared for us. Every meal was different and so tasty and plentiful! Tempeh and tofu never tasted so good. Our fellow guests alsp seemed very happy with their meat and fish dishes. If you have to take some surface time, there is a beach within easy walking distance. We spent a cool afternoon exploring it at low tide. Or you can hire a scooter and explore the island a little more. You can even arrange a massage/ facial! Each morning the view is incredible.   I’m not even sure how to put this without sounding exaggerated, but here is my honest review.||We are newly certified OW divers, and Bunaken was our very first diving destination after getting our licenses. We were nervous at first, but from the moment we arrived at Happy Gecko Dive Resort, every single staff member — accommodation team, dive crew, kitchen workers — made us feel safe, welcomed, and truly cared for.||For future travelers, here are a few honest things to know before booking (none bothered us at all, but good to keep in mind):||• No air conditioning. It can get warm from midday to afternoon. Our simple solution? Fit in as many dives as we wanted throughout the day.||• No hot water showers, but with how warm and sunny it is every day, we honestly didn’t mind it at all.||• Lots of stairs and walking paths. Bungalows spread across the hillside, so your legs will feel it. Yet this elevated location gifts every balcony incredible, unblocked lagoon views worth every climb.||•

  I cannot say a single bad thing about our stay there. The owner Willeke was very nice and helpful, as well as the whole staff. The airport transfer to the place was working without problems. The view from every terrace is beautiful and the everyday fresh cooked food was also delicious. In terms of diving, there are some very nice reefs with nice walls and also sudden current changes. And LOTS of turtles. Not that many big things, but makro fans will definitely have fun using their camera. The only thing to be considered is, that there is no aircon, so i can become quite warm and the stairs to each bungalow for people which are not good by food. But overall both were absolutely acceptable for us.

  Happy Gecko feels like home in paradise! It's the perfect place to explore the underwater world around Bunaken and relax in a very picturesque environment. The dive masters are world class. The cooks make exceptional and varied food and always take your dietary requirements into account. Willike is a very attentive and sociable host who really takes great care of all her guests and made us feel at home. And finally, the fellow divers you meet feel like good old friends from day one, amazing crowd. Thanks to all the people who made our stay here a wonderful experience!
