As the other reviews state, you will be well taken care of at SJ! Amelia answered all my questions before arrival (and yes, I asked many 🫣) and she helped me feel well prepared for the journey and my dives. Giaum (spelling?) was my dive instructor for 2 out of 3 dives. He was fantastic. A calming presence and patient instructor so I felt comfortable taking my first dives in almost 2 years. The rooms are simple in the hotel but perfectly adequate for a dive/stay combo. I hope to be back!

Travelled solo to do my open water with these guys and it was epic - from the moment I messaged them via WhatsApp it was 10/10 service. I booked a dorm and they were so clean / comfy. The food was good and the reception staff/ managers were so helpful the whole time. Most of all Julio soba was my instructor and he was epic. He didn’t just tick the boxes so I got my ticket, he explained why we did everything and made it fun. I also really loved his passion for marine life as well as conservation of the reefs, we saw manta, sharks, snakes, cuttlefish… all the fish. The gear is well serviced and the diving always safe. My only regret is not booking my advanced ticket immediately after, I almost cried when it was time to leave. Will definitely come back !

I spent a week diving with SJ Penida late March - a total of 21 dives. Overall I couldn't have asked for more. Correspondence before arrival promptly replied to and arrangements all smooth. Provided clear information about transfers from Bali and to SJ Penida. On arrival staff very friendly gave a comprehensive overview of facilities and how dive days operated. Breakfast included in my accommodation package was more than ample. Diving all felt well organised with great ratios of divers to DM's - on my dives never more than 1:3. I felt completely supported in gearing up and exiting the water. I really appreciated the help from boat staff as and the DM in this regards. I was more than happy with the quality of diving. Although I was hoping to see mantas (saw only one on the first day, but that is diving) the diving overall was very enjoyable and I was very happy every day. I always felt staff endeavoured to provide the best experience and any changes to the proposed days itinerary share

It was a rainy late afternoon when I arrived in Penida after dealing with immigration issues in DPS and catching the last boat to the island. Even though it was already past their working hours, Hanny and Efra were still waiting to welcome me, help me settle into the accommodation, brief me on the next day’s dive plan, and check all my dive equipment. Hanny also went out of his way to help with other arrangements like island day trips and boat bookings. I did fun dives with Efra on the first day, then Drift Specialty with Rein and Nitrox with Marie on the second day. All of them were fun, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. They patiently answered all my questions and gave me a lot of useful advice throughout the dives. I genuinely improved a lot diving with them, especially my trim and streamlining in the water, which now feels much better than ever before. Highly recommend Scuba Junkie Penida for both learning and fun diving. Great people, great atmosphere, and excellent ins
