  My wife and I had a wonderful 10-day stay at Ketembe Private Island. A great getaway from our home in Jakarta. The setting is quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We enjoyed relaxing, reading, snorkeling, and listening to the surf. We even enjoyed the occasional rain and storms. Our bungalow was comfortable and clean, as was the beach and resort area. We slept well. We enjoyed the porch over the water and snorkeled right from the deck. The staff was wonderful. Everyone always made us feel like we were valued and belonged - they created a strong friend and family vibe. That is the best part!||The food was amazing! Generally wonderful Indonesian fare and delicious desserts and pastries. All were presented as a buffet or plated attractively, adding to the feeling of care. The restaurant/bar is a nice place to hang out and watch the small reef sharks and other fish.||We purchased a dive package, and the dive guides were great.   Katembe Private Island is one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. It almost doesn’t feel real. Everything about this place is so beautiful and intentional. What I loved most is how it feels… it’s peaceful in a way that’s very rare these days. The team were incredible, so warm and genuine. The food was absolutely delicious too. This is the kind of place you go to properly switch off and come back to yourself a bit. The work they’re doing around marine conservation makes the experience even more special to be a part of. I really did not want to leave and cannot wait to return!

  Imagine paradise… then multiply it by ten 💛 Hand on heart, this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places we’ve ever experienced. We expected a magical holiday — but what we found went far beyond anything we imagined. This truly feels like paradise on earth! It’s the perfect place to slow down, switch off, and fully recharge. The team made everything even more special — incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. And the food… next level! One of the most inspiring parts was their reef restoration program. You can actually get involved, and when snorkeling right out front, you see firsthand the impact — vibrant marine life, stunning coral, and an underwater world that’s been brought back to life. It’s genuinely impressive! We’re so grateful for this experience and will absolutely be back one day. Fingers crossed this place stays the paradise it is! If we could give more than 5 stars, we would — this is easily a 10+

  We spent 7 nights in two deluxe bungalows and loved it. What makes Katembe special is the intimacy of the resort. The staff is very friendly and more than happy to talk to you, Dylan sat down and taught my son and me a card game! Jonathan, our dive master, made good plans for us, it was all very easy and flexible. “Let’s check the weather tomorrow, if not good then we wait a couple of hours until we head out” - that kind of flexibility is not found in all resorts (speaking from experience). The food is Indonesian and prepared with great care, delicious of course. Reef sharks circle the restaurant by the way! We also did the cooking course which was good fun. On our trip we also went to another resort which was nice too but lacked the intimacy and fabulous food that Katembe offers. Keep up the good work, we will be back!
